IDENTITY

DENOMINATIONAL AFFILIATIONS

Because of our belief in the autonomy of the local church and because we believe that God-centered, Jesus loving groups should partner together for the furthering of the kingdom, we intentionally choose to affiliate with the Palm Lake Baptist Association, the Florida Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention. These affiliations do not afford control over the affairs our church and serve as partners in spreading the gospel message through missions, training, and encouragement. 

WORSHIP PHILOSOPHY AND STYLE

Our philosophy of worship is simple: We seek to encourage and enable people to approach the throne of grace as often as possible.  Worship is truly and ultimately our response to the greatness of God. We worship Him in reverence for who He is and what He has done in our lives.  We encourage people to express their worship in a genuine manner, no matter how God may lead.  This may include singing, raising hands, clapping, bowing silently, kneeling in prayer, or even dancing. As long as it is a genuine expression of worship to our great God, we encourage it. We are called to respond to God's glory and greatness throughout our lives, and our corporate worship is a time to express our love for Him, draw close and  feel His nearness, and to allow the Holy Spirit to work on our continual transformation into the likeness of Christ.

WHY NOT BE INDEPENDENT?

We are, in essence, an independent church! Every SBC church is completely autonomous. We are not subject to the hierarchical control of any ecclesiastical or denominational body. Each church is self-governed and determines its own affairs. For example:

• Every SBC church chooses its own pastor.
• Every SBC church owns its own buildings and assets.
• Every SBC church determines its own programs and polity.
